Focus Features has dropped the first official trailer for Pressure, a gripping World War II drama arriving in U.S. theaters on May 29, 2026. Studiocanal will release the film in the U.K. later this year, on September 9. The movie tells the tense story behind one of the most pivotal moments in modern history: the Allied decision to go forward with D-Day on June 6, 1944.

Set in the final days before the planned invasion of Normandy, Pressure follows Royal Air Force meteorologist Captain James Stagg (Andrew Scott) as he delivers a critical weather report to Allied high command. The stakes could not be higher: the feasibility of launching the largest seaborne invasion in history hangs in the balance. The film explores the personal and political pressures weighing on military leaders as they confront the fate of Europe.

Brendan Fraser stars as General Dwight D. Eisenhower, while Kerry Condon portrays Captain Kay Summersby. Damian Lewis appears as Marshall Bernard Montgomery, with Chris Messina as meteorologist Irving P. Krick and Henry Ashton as John Eisenhower. The cast is rounded out by Con O’Neill, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Toby Williams, and Max Croes. Early glimpses in the trailer suggest the filmmakers have integrated cleaned-up and colorized archival footage to heighten the historical authenticity.

Directed by Australian filmmaker Anthony Maras, known for Hotel Mumbai, the screenplay is adapted by Maras and David Haig from Haig’s 2014 stage play Pressure. Producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner bring their experience with large-scale historical dramas to the project, ensuring a cinematic experience that balances personal drama with monumental history.

The trailer emphasizes the film’s focus on the human dimension of war: the difficult decisions, moral dilemmas, and split-second judgments that determined the outcome of the Allied invasion. Fans of films like Darkest Hour and other wartime epics will likely find themselves drawn to Pressure’s tense, character-driven storytelling.

With its combination of star power, historical stakes, and immersive period detail, Pressure is shaping up to be a standout WWII thriller this summer. U.S. audiences can experience it on May 29, 2026, followed by its U.K. release in September, offering both a cinematic and historical window into the critical hours that changed the course of the war.
