Fans of Sony SAB’s popular Hindi dramedy are heartbroken after the show officially wrapped its journey, and now lead actress Sumbul Touqeer has finally reacted to the overwhelming emotional response pouring in from viewers. The actress opened up about the show’s sudden end, the love she has received from fans, and the unforgettable memories she made on set alongside co-star Rajat Verma.
The series, which premiered on August 18, 2025, and concluded its run on May 16, 2026, was the official Hindi adaptation of the British show Shameless. Over the course of 225 episodes, audiences connected deeply with the story of Anvita, played by Sumbul Touqeer — a determined young woman balancing family responsibilities, career ambitions, and complicated relationships while raising her four younger brothers.
As disappointment among fans continues to grow online, Sumbul acknowledged their emotions and admitted that even the cast understands how attached viewers had become to the show.
“I completely understand their emotions because they were so deeply connected to the show. But—well, what can we do now? It’s not in our hands.”
The actress also reflected on the immense appreciation she has received throughout her television journey, expressing gratitude for the support and affection from audiences who stood by her and her projects.
“Regarding all the immense love I’m receiving from people: I never, in my wildest dreams, expected that people would speak so highly of me. People have showered me with so much love right from the very beginning of my journey. It has truly been an honor that so many people have given me such affection, placed such faith in my work and my projects, and loved my shows so much. So, I just feel incredibly grateful for all of this.”
When asked about the reason behind the show going off-air despite strong audience attachment, Sumbul clarified that the decision was entirely beyond the cast’s control.
“We have absolutely nothing to do with that decision. I believe it was a decision made by the channel, because, apart from that factor, our show was actually doing quite well.”
Beyond the emotional farewell, Sumbul also shared several fun behind-the-scenes moments from the set, revealing the playful bond the cast shared during filming.
“Best memories—I think whenever we weren't shooting our scenes, we used to have a lot of fun together. There were several mango trees on our set, so sometimes we would grab a large stick and use it to pluck mangoes. Once, Rajat and I even climbed up onto the roof of our vanity van while running around and chasing each other! So, it was all about playing around and goofing off together; we even used to have Pani Puri parties every now and then.”
One of the most talked-about aspects of the show was Sumbul Touqeer’s chemistry and friendship with co-star Rajat Verma, and the actress admitted that she will deeply miss working with him.
“I will definitely miss Rajat, as he has become a very good friend of mine through this show. We’ve had so much fun together and have shot some truly lovely scenes side-by-side. I believe he is a wonderful co-actor to work with; he made me feel very comfortable—and was very funny at the same time—though also very annoying at the very same time!”
The show also starred veteran actor Varun Badola and managed to build a loyal fanbase during its run thanks to its emotional storytelling, relatable family dynamics, and heartfelt performances.
