Sumbul Touqeer, known for her strong presence on Indian television, has spoken candidly about taking a step back from work after her latest show Itti Si Khushi officially went off air on May 16, 2026. The actress, who played the lead role of Anvita, shared that she now needs time to rest, reset, and focus on her well-being before making her next move in the industry.

Addressing her decision to take a break, Sumbul reflected on the pressures of the entertainment world and how she is prioritizing her mental and physical health. She emphasized that stepping away from work is not permanent but necessary at this point in her journey. She said, “I believe everyone in this industry is replaceable. Right now—as I’ve said—my body needs time. My mind—my brain—needs time to relax, to calm down. So, I stand by that; and as soon as I start feeling a little better, I will make my comeback.”

Beyond her career break, Sumbul also opened up about her personal growth and the journey that helped her build confidence over the years. She shared how she evolved from being an introvert to someone more comfortable in public life and interactions. She said, “I’m not exactly sure how it happened, but I actually think it’s because I used to be an introvert. I wasn't able to talk to people easily back then; however, with time and experience—since you really have to push yourself a little to build confidence—things changed. When I felt that my confidence wasn't quite strong enough, I embarked on my very first solo trip—which also happened to be my first international trip. I traveled alone to a different country where a completely different language is spoken—and that turned out to be one of the most beautiful trips of my life. I believe that experience helped me immensely in terms of becoming more confident and gaining the ability to talk to new people.”

Sumbul Touqeer first rose to widespread recognition with her powerful performance in Imlie and later impressed audiences as IAS officer Kavya Bansal Pradhan in Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon. With Itti Si Khushi, she continued her streak of lead roles, portraying Anvita in a story that connected with viewers before concluding its run this month.

As she steps away from the spotlight for now, Sumbul’s message reflects both honesty and self-awareness — acknowledging the pressures of the industry while also highlighting the importance of personal space and mental health. Fans have already begun expressing support, eagerly waiting for her return when she feels ready to make her comeback.
