Karan Anshuman, the creator behind the upcoming Netflix sports-crime thriller Glory, has revealed why the series is deeply rooted in Bhiwani, Haryana—calling it the “Mini Cuba of India” and explaining how the town naturally became the backbone of the story.

Speaking at the trailer launch event, Karan addressed why the narrative was set in a specific boxing-centric location like Bhiwani. When asked whether the setting was a deliberate creative choice or an organic discovery during writing, he responded in detail: “Bhiwani served as an ideal central point. It is known as the "Mini Cuba" of India. Furthermore—beyond the thematic ideas we were exploring regarding those who don't make it (the athletes who fall short, the dysfunctional families, and the father-son dynamics—themes I personally love to explore in all my work)—we knew that if the story was going to be sports-centric, it simply had to be set somewhere in Punjab or Haryana.”

He went on to explain how real-world research shaped the world of Glory, making Bhiwani feel like a natural creative fit: “And when we embarked on our research trips, Bhiwani just stood out; it possesses such an incredible ecosystem where everything in the town revolves around boxing. It felt like a perfect universe that simply presented itself to us. So, that was it—it became a very easy, almost automatic choice. However, we had always wanted to focus on boxing. Personally, I enjoy watching boxing much more than wrestling—and while wrestling certainly offers great stories to tell, I feel a project needs to have a personal connection as well. So, for me, the decision was: "Let's go down that path." Plus, India hasn't yet won a gold medal in boxing, so it felt like the perfect time to tell a story centered around that sport”

The series is set in the gritty, emotionally charged world of Haryana’s boxing circuit, where ambition, rivalry, and family trauma collide. At its core, Glory follows a dysfunctional family pulled into a murder mystery surrounding a champion boxer, forcing buried truths to surface.

The ensemble cast includes Pulkit Samrat as Ravi Singh, a former boxer returning home; Divyenndu as Dev Singh, his brother entangled in the investigation; Suvinder Vicky as their strict boxing coach father Raghubir Singh; and Jannat Zubair Rahmani as their sister Gudiya. The series also features Ashutosh Rana, Sikandar Kher, Sayani Gupta, and Kashmira Pardeshi in key roles.

With its mix of sports ambition, family conflict, and crime-driven suspense, Glory is already building strong anticipation ahead of its May 1, 2026 release on Netflix. Karan Anshuman’s vision, rooted in real-world inspiration and emotional storytelling, positions the series as a raw exploration of both boxing culture and fractured family bonds.
