After more than three decades since the release of the original Toy Story, Disney and Pixar Animation Studios have officially unveiled the final trailer for Toy Story 5 — and this time, the beloved toys are tackling a very modern problem: technology taking over playtime.
The new sequel sees iconic characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie struggling to compete with children’s growing obsession with electronics and digital gadgets. Instead of battling jealous toys or daycare chaos, the gang now faces a completely different challenge as screens and smart devices begin replacing traditional toys in kids’ lives. The trailer mixes comedy, emotion, and nostalgia while cleverly reflecting today’s tech-driven world.
One of the biggest highlights from the trailer is the introduction of a brand-new villain named Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee. The highly advanced device quickly becomes a major threat to the toys, making life increasingly difficult for Woody and the gang as they attempt to protect the spirit of imagination and real-world play.
