Karan Johar, Amruta Fadnavis, veteran actress Shabana Azmi and Poonam Sinha came together in Mumbai on Tuesday, August 25, to celebrate women entrepreneurs at the opening of the 39th edition of the IMC Ladies' Wing Women Entrepreneurs' Exhibition. The star-studded opening brought together entertainment, fashion and business as the four personalities joined the event as chief guests.
Held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, the two-day exhibition is celebrating a major milestone this year. Along with its 39th edition, the event also marks the Diamond Jubilee, or 60th year, of the IMC Ladies' Wing, making this year's showcase particularly significant.
The exhibition has grown into a major platform for women-led businesses, and this year's edition features more than 300 women entrepreneurs from across India. From designer collections and jewellery to handicrafts, lifestyle products and innovative retail concepts, the event puts the spotlight firmly on women who are building their own brands and businesses.
Karan Johar's presence added a touch of Bollywood glamour to the opening, while Shabana Azmi brought her decades of experience and influence from the world of Indian cinema. Amruta Fadnavis and Poonam Sinha also joined the celebrations, supporting an initiative that focuses on creating opportunities and visibility for women entrepreneurs.
This year's exhibition comes with the theme "Bees and the Hive", a concept centred around collective action, sustainability and conscious entrepreneurship. The idea highlights how individual efforts can become more powerful when women come together, collaborate and create an ecosystem where businesses can grow.
Fashion is naturally one of the biggest attractions at the exhibition. The showcase features contemporary apparel, menswear, kidswear and designer footwear, alongside an impressive jewellery section featuring fine craftsmanship, heritage-inspired designs and silver pieces. For shoppers and fashion enthusiasts, the exhibition offers a chance to discover emerging brands and independent creators under one roof.
The 2026 edition has also partnered with the Fashion Design Council of India to provide a platform for emerging young designers. The collaboration adds another exciting dimension to the exhibition, connecting established industry expertise with a new generation of creative entrepreneurs.
Beyond fashion and retail, the exhibition also focuses on lifestyle and social impact. Visitors can explore home décor, luxury lifestyle products and sustainable offerings, while a newly introduced beauty and wellness zone expands the range of categories on display. Stalls supporting NGOs and rural craft communities further underline the event's focus on entrepreneurship with a purpose.
The opening day therefore became more than just a glamorous Mumbai event. With prominent personalities coming together to champion women-led businesses, the exhibition highlighted the importance of visibility, collaboration and access for entrepreneurs looking to build sustainable brands.
As the 39th IMC Ladies' Wing Women Entrepreneurs' Exhibition continues at the Jio World Convention Centre, its message is clear: when women support women, the entire ecosystem grows stronger. With hundreds of entrepreneurs, young designers, artisans and social-impact initiatives coming together, this year's exhibition is celebrating not only a milestone anniversary but also the growing force of women in India's business and creative landscape.
