The world of Indian storytelling is expanding in exciting new directions, and the launch of The Legend Of Vvan comic book at Mumbai Comic Con 2026 is a perfect example of that evolution. The event, held on Saturday, May 9, saw a star-studded presence including Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ekta Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar, and Deepak Mishra, all coming together to celebrate the expanding universe of their upcoming film Vvan: Force Of The Forest. What made this launch stand out was the reverse journey—where instead of a comic becoming a film, the film’s universe was first built and then extended into a comic book.
Sidharth Malhotra, who plays a key role in the film, expressed how meaningful it was to see his character transformed into illustrated form. Speaking at the event, he said, “Well, absolutely. I think uh you know one represents the folklore that we have. We have such a rich culture and so many stories in India to tell and that's the reason um I'm most excited about this film. I think it talks about our folk stories which comes from TVF and their writing and then Ektaa Kapoor giving uh you know her producer inputs into it and mounting it on that level.”
He further added, “And today all thanks to that we have this comic book which is I think the most special for me as an actor to see a story a character come alive on in art, who sketches first and hopefully they'll have the same effect once they see the movie on. It's coming out on 28th of August this year. Yeah. And we're pretty excited to bring our rooted story to the cinemas and to the fans here of comic book and comic-con.” His words highlight how deeply actors connect with their characters when they are reimagined through a different artistic lens, especially in a medium as expressive as comics.
The idea behind Vvan is rooted in folklore and Indian mythology, blending modern cinematic storytelling with traditional narrative elements. The involvement of creative forces like Ekta Kapoor and teams like TVF adds a layered storytelling approach that aims to build a larger universe beyond just one film. The comic book adaptation, created by Alok Sharma and Saumin Patel, expands this vision by giving fans a visual entry point into the world even before the film releases.
With Vvan: Force Of The Forest set to release in cinemas on August 28, anticipation is steadily building. The project signals a growing trend in Indian entertainment where stories are no longer confined to a single format. Instead, they are being designed as immersive worlds that live across films, comics, and possibly even more platforms in the future. For fans, it’s not just about watching a movie anymore—it’s about stepping into an entire universe.
