Aura Entertainment has released the official trailer for Lockbox, an upcoming supernatural horror thriller formerly known as Winthrop. Set to arrive in theaters on July 3, 2026, the film promises a chilling blend of psychological dread, paranormal mystery, and emotional storytelling rooted in family trauma.
The story follows Ellen, played by Carla Gugino, who retreats to a quiet rural town after the death of her mother in search of peace and a fresh start. There, she takes in her deeply traumatized cousin Winthrop, hoping to provide him with a safe and stable home. However, their fragile existence begins to unravel when a troubled neighbor warns Ellen that Winthrop may be harboring something dark and dangerous.
As unexplained events begin to intensify, Ellen finds herself caught in a terrifying battle against a mysterious otherworldly force seemingly determined to find Winthrop. The trailer teases eerie visions, unsettling encounters, and a growing sense of dread as the supernatural threat closes in on the pair.
Alongside Carla Gugino, the film stars Lou Taylor Pucci and Katharine Isabella. According to the filmmakers, Lockbox captures the haunting atmosphere that made the acclaimed Knifepoint Horror podcast a favorite among horror fans. Beyond its supernatural scares, the movie also explores themes of grief, generational trauma, and the emotional scars that can linger for years.
Lockbox is directed by German genre filmmaker Daniel Stamm, known for his work in the horror space. The screenplay is written by Justin Yoffe and is based on "The Lock Box," a story from Soren Narnia's popular Knifepoint Horror podcast. With its unsettling premise, strong cast, and haunting visuals, Lockbox is shaping up to be one of this summer's most intriguing horror releases.
