Black Bear Pictures has finally dropped the first trailer for Shelter, and in true Ric Roman Waugh fashion, it’s packed with brooding tension, bruised knuckles, and Jason Statham glaring at danger like it owes him rent. This time, Statham plays a haunted assassin hiding out on a remote Scottish island—basically the most peaceful place imaginable until a storm decides to spit a mysterious young girl onto his shoreline.
The moment he rescues her, the universe hits the un-pause button on his violent past. What follows is a domino chain of danger: masked intruders, shadowy figures, explosions, and the kind of home invasion that would make any self-respecting recluse reconsider the whole retirement lifestyle. With attackers closing in, Statham’s character is shoved out of isolation and forced to protect the girl while confronting the ghosts he’d buried under years of grit.
The trailer teases a tense journey stretching from rain-lashed cliffs to the dark underbelly of London, where survival, redemption, and a whole lot of well-timed punches collide. Naomi Ackie steps in as a key ally (or threat—we’re not ruling anything out), while Bill Nighy, Tom Wu, and young Bodhi Rae Breathnach round out a cast that looks primed for emotional stakes and high-voltage action.
Written by Ward Parry and directed by Waugh, Shelter storms into theaters on January 30th, 2026. If the trailer’s anything to go by, expect a blend of atmospheric isolation, slick brutality, and Statham at his most protectively unhinged—a combo that rarely misses.
