After winning praise for his role as the intense ex-boyfriend in Saiyaara, actor Shaan R Grover is speaking out—and he's not holding back. In a candid post-success interview, the rising star addressed one of Bollywood’s most heated debates: nepotism. Rather than shy away from the topic, Shaan gave an unfiltered, emotionally honest response that’s quickly turning heads.
“I am telling you honestly, till now I haven’t understood the concept of nepotism, and I saying with genuinely, I think it’s about luck, and I think this happens in every industry,” Shaan said. “Let’s say there is an ultra-successful doctor in Delhi, and he checks 15–20 patients every day, so tell me why he wouldn’t want his son to follow his footsteps? Same goes in law or any other industry in the world.”
He didn’t stop there. Acknowledging the industry's barriers for newcomers, Shaan added, “I might admit that here in India, things are a little caged, someone else entering the industry is tough, but once you find your footing and you’re talented, this industry will give you opportunity. There are so many good people here in industry, who wish to give opportunities to people from outside of industry.”
On playing a supporting role in Saiyaara, he made it clear he sees every role as a stepping stone: “I am also playing a side role in this movie, but it totally depends on me how well I perform that role and find new connections. Using my craft, find new projects. And if I miss the opportunity, then the failure is on me.”
Then came the knockout: “As far as nepotism is concerned, we keep forgetting that Nepotism gave us Ranbir Kapoor, one of the greatest actors we have, even Abhay Deol—he is one of the greatest indie actors that we have. And now Ahaan Panday, I have seen his hard work, he loves movies, and so do I, this is something we bonded over.”
His closing words hit with raw honesty: “Ahaan Panday is passionate about movies, he has worked hard, and been wanting to be an actor since childhood, and if someone like him is making a mark, what’s the harm? Now, the only thing I see wrong with it is that due to nepotism, someone really bad makes it through—then it’s a problem. I do not mind people getting chances, it is what it is. I mean, what exactly should I do—give up on my dreams because of nepotism?”
With this unfiltered response, Shaan R Grover has proved he's not just another actor waiting for his next big break—he’s here to challenge the narrative and make his voice heard.
