At a star-studded press conference in Mumbai, director-producer Karan Johar, along with Teja Sajja, Karthik Gattamneni, and producer Vishwa Prasad, kicked off the promotional campaign for the highly anticipated fantasy action-drama Mirai. The event, titled the Super Yodha Tour, gave fans and media a deeper look into the cinematic world of Mirai, which blends ancient mythology with modern visual storytelling.
When asked if Mirai could be considered the next Baahubali, Johar firmly dismissed any comparison. “You just cannot compare one film to another, every film has its own journey, and I think everyone on this illustrious platform will tell you that SS Rajamouli Sir for us is like literally the benchmark of great cinema of India. We are all humble students wanting to learn from the master. He is a master, you cannot ever dare to compare to Rajamouli sir’s vision, I wouldn’t, and I am sure everyone who has tremendous respect for him in their hearts, will say the same thing.” His reverence set the tone for the kind of originality and ambition the Mirai team hopes to bring to audiences.
Speaking about the film itself, Johar added, “Here I want to say, it is a totally different experience you will feel when you watch Mirai, it is very verry different from what you have seen, the narrative, the combination of deep rooted civilization like ours, blended with modern day storytelling and the exceptional emotions that follows within it, it’s a totally different experience and I wouldn’t compare it with anything you have ever seen, anywhere.” With Dharma Productions backing the film’s release in the Hindi belt, Johar promised a pan-Indian spectacle aimed at reaching hearts across the country.
Directed by Karthik Gattamneni and Anil Anand, and written by Gattamneni and Manibabu Karanam, Mirai follows the journey of a warrior assigned to protect nine sacred scriptures — artifacts so powerful, they could turn mortals into gods. The cast features rising star Teja Sajja in the lead, supported by Manoj Kumar Manchu and debutante Ritika Nayak.
With its theatrical release set for 12th September 2025, Mirai is shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest cinematic events. Whether it becomes a benchmark remains to be seen — but one thing is clear: the film is ready to carve its own legacy.
