At the trailer launch of Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyaan, actor Vikrant Massey gave debutant Shanaya Kapoor what may just be the most heartfelt compliment an industry newcomer could ask for. Speaking to the media in Mumbai, Vikrant didn’t just welcome her — he applauded her with the kind of sincerity that resonates. “People keep asking Shanaya how it was working with me,” he said with a smile, “but the truth is, I’ve learned more from her in the past 4-5 months than I have in my 21-year-long career. And I mean every word of it.”
The romantic drama, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyaan, marks Shanaya Kapoor’s big screen debut and features Vikrant Massey in the role of a visually impaired musician. Directed by Santosh Singh and written by Mansi Bagla, the film is adapted from Ruskin Bond’s poignant short story The Eyes Have It. It’s produced by Mansi and Varun Bagla under Zee Studios and Mini Films, and is set to release on 11th July 2025.
Shanaya plays a theater artist who meets Vikrant’s character during a train journey. What begins as a simple conversation between strangers gradually unfurls into a deep emotional connection, quietly challenging the boundaries of perception, presence, and vulnerability. The film, like the original short story, peels back the layers of human connection — this time reimagined in the context of contemporary relationships.
The chemistry between the two leads is already being praised in early glimpses from the trailer, but Vikrant’s remarks highlight a genuine camaraderie that goes beyond just what’s on screen. For someone as seasoned and respected as Vikrant Massey to openly say he’s walked away from the experience as a student rather than a mentor, speaks volumes about Shanaya’s presence, work ethic, and promise.
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyaan is shaping up to be more than just a debut vehicle — it looks like a soul-stirring, quiet love story where both the actors (one new, one veteran) meet each other halfway with grace and depth. July 11 can’t come soon enough.
