JioHotstar made a grand announcement of its upcoming Tamil content slate at the South Unbound event held in Chennai on Tuesday, promising a mix of drama, romance, comedy, and action for South audiences. The event highlighted new web series and returning favorites, all available via OTTplay Premium, along with platforms like Discovery+, Sonyliv, FanCode, and 25+ OTTs.
The first announcement was Lucky – The Super Star, directed by Udhay Mahesh of The Family Man fame. The show explores the emotional bond between a child and a dog, starring GV Prakash in the lead role alongside other familiar faces. “This is a unique subject and an emotional story between a dog and child. There are more surprises in the show,” the team revealed.
Fans of legal dramas can look forward to the second season of Good Wife, starring Priyamani, Aari Arjunan, and Sampath Raj. Director Halitha Shameem returns, promising an engaging narrative after the love and support the first season received. For cricket enthusiasts, Love Beyond Wicket starring Vikranth, marks his OTT debut and revolves around a cricket coach and his students, directed by GK.
Comedy and rural storytelling are represented through Kenatha Kaanom, starring Yogi Babu, which follows villagers digging a well and discovering unexpected surprises. Resort, starring Vijay Kumar Rajendran, blends romance, comedy, and emotions in a unique resort backdrop, marking a fresh setting for Tamil web content. The slate also includes Lingam, a kabaddi-based drama starring Kathir and Divya Bharathi, and Love Always, a Hotstar Special involving time travel for an elderly couple, directed by Madhumitha.
Returning favorites and star-led projects round out the slate. Heart Beat returns for a third season with Anumol, Karthik Kumar, and others reprising their roles. Vijay Sethupathi headlines Kaataan, a rural action series directed and produced by Manikandan, while the non-fiction project Second Love will also be added. All series are expected to release in 2026, offering viewers a mix of storytelling, star power, and innovative concepts for Tamil audiences.
