At the grand trailer launch of Jolly LLB 3 in Kanpur, Akshay Kumar opened up about the film’s origins, his deep respect for his director Subhash Kapoor.
Speaking to the media, Akshay revealed that the courtroom satire is rooted in a real event from 2011. “There was an incident in 2011, and this film is based on that,” he said. “Some words and flavors have been taken from Kanpur, but the case in the film is actually being tried in Delhi. Since this is a pan-India release, we’ve used just as much of the Kanpur dialect as people across the country can understand. Subhash sir has written the story keeping that balance in mind.”
Akshay credited director Subhash Kapoor for guiding him through the regional nuances of the role. Kapoor, who has lived in Kanpur, brought a level of authenticity that deeply influenced the film’s tone and language. “My director has lived here, he knows a lot about Kanpur,” Akshay shared. “It’s the director’s job to take us through that world , he showed me a lot of videos, explained how the dialect should sound, how to say certain things, all the little nuances. I just followed my director.”
Known for several films with a patriotic theme, Akshay clarified that his choice isn’t driven by box office success but by something much more personal. “I don’t do patriotic films because they do good business,” he said. “I come from an Army background. My father was a soldier. So, it comes naturally to me. I want to do these kinds of films.”
Jolly LLB 3 is the third installment in the hit courtroom drama series. This time, both Jollys — Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi return in what promises to be a high-voltage courtroom clash. Directed by Subhash Kapoor and featuring Saurabh Shukla as the iconic judge, the film blends humor, satire, and legal drama in a way that has become the franchise's hallmark.
Produced by Fox Star Studios, Jolly LLB 3 is slated to release across India on September 19, 2025.
