Actress Huma Qureshi shared a warm and personal story at FICCI Frames Day 2, speaking about her deepening connection with Madhya Pradesh—a state that has, over the years, become more than just a shooting location. For her, it's now a second home.
“When I was growing up, every year we used to go to Kashmir to visit my grandparents. After they passed away, we stopped going,” she shared. “Since then, if there’s one place where I’ve spent a significant amount of time, it’s Madhya Pradesh.”
Qureshi has been returning to the heart of India every year since the journey of her hit series Maharani began in 2020. “Ever since Maharani started, I’ve been going there every year. We spend a lot of time, and now it feels like the people there are my own. I feel a connection. The kind of emotional bond I had with my maternal grandparents' home—my nanihal—I now feel that same connection with Madhya Pradesh.”
With Maharani Season 4 set to release on 7th November, Huma hinted that Season 5 may be on the cards too. “Hopefully, there’s a Season 5, so we’ll go back again next year.”
Beyond just shooting, the experience has become deeply nostalgic and rooted in routine for her and the entire team.
“The hotel we stay at—every time I go, I want to stay in the same hotel room. Our producer jokes that now that the show’s successful, we should upgrade. But the entire cast and crew says, ‘No, we want the same room!’”
That room, that place, those people—they’ve become sacred to her. “Just going back there gives me a sense of ease and comfort. The people are so warm, so kind. And the food? It’s absolutely amazing.”
She smiles as she recalls the many memories she's created there—quietly acknowledging how life sometimes gives you unexpected anchors in unfamiliar places.
