Rising star Vyom Yadav, who is basking in the love and appreciation for his recent film Mannu Kya Karega, opens up about his journey, working with legends, and the sheer joy of seeing his work resonate with audiences.
“I feel very, very happy. The kind of love we’ve received from everyone from the audience… it’s overwhelming,” says Vyom Yadav, glowing with pride as his rom-com Mannu Kya Karega wins hearts across the board. “Everyone’s been messaging me — it feels fresh, it feels rewarding. We put in a lot of effort, and now we’re finally seeing the result of that. I truly feel on top of the world right now.”
For Vyom, Mannu Kya Karega marks a significant shift from his previous outing. “Before this, I worked with Himanshu Dhulia sir in Garmi, which was a student politics drama. This film is the exact opposite — a light-hearted romantic comedy. It’s a different energy altogether.”
The spark for this project ignited early on. “We began with a song — I still remember hearing Gulfam for the first time and instantly feeling like I wanted to be part of this film. Later, the producers approached me and said, ‘We saw you in Garmi and loved your performance. We have a role for you.’ And once they told me that Lalit Pandit would be composing the music, I didn’t think twice. After all, this is the man who made music for Shah Rukh Khan!”
Vyom finds deep personal connection with his character Mannu. “I think there’s a bit of Mannu in all of us. As a college kid, I was exactly like him — skipping classes, playing football, just living in the moment.”
But what made Mannu Kya Karega even more special for Vyom was the opportunity to share screen space with acting stalwarts. “It’s been a blessing to work with legends like Kumud Mishra sir, and Vinay Pathak sir. We’ve grown up watching them — so getting to act alongside them felt surreal. You feel nervous, excited, lucky — all at once. Their charm, their presence on screen... it naturally rubs off on you. There’s so much to learn from them, especially the non-verbal things — how they carry themselves, how they react, how they just ‘are’. That’s invaluable.”
Another exciting chapter in Vyom’s career is tied to the much-awaited film Karna, being developed by Excel Entertainment and helmed by the acclaimed Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Vyom has been cast as Abhimanyu, but the film is currently undergoing changes in script and financing. “We had already begun training — horse riding, fight sequences, the whole prep. But a while ago, they decided to put the project on hold due to those changes.”
Still, working with Mehra left a lasting impression. “Not many people have met Rakeysh sir — he’s not very social, doesn’t even keep a phone with him. But he’s so calm, so grounded. He looks like a college kid who’s grown older — full of energy but with such serenity. I once asked him if he meditates, and he said, ‘If I’m listening to you talk, that’s meditation for me.’ That kind of presence... it teaches you things that words can't.”
Vyom will soon be seen again alongside Sanjay Mishra in Durlabh Prasad Ki Doosri Shaadi, a heartfelt comedy-drama set in Benaras, slated for release in January 2026. “It’s a beautiful film. We shot in Benaras, which is Sanjay sir’s hometown — he was like a kid again, showing us around the city. It added such authenticity and warmth to the whole experience.”
When asked about dream collaborations, Vyom’s eyes light up. “I’d love to work with Shah Rukh Khan sir. Not just to act with him — I just want to spend time with him, to learn from his aura. And if given the chance, definitely Amitabh Bachchan sir. These are legends. Just being around them is inspiring.”
