The special screening of Don’t Be Shy brought together a stylish mix of Bollywood personalities, musicians and fashion industry names in Mumbai. Varun Dhawan, Ananya Birla, Manish Malhotra and Jonita Gandhi were among those who attended the screening of the upcoming young-adult romantic comedy. Their presence added to the excitement around the film ahead of its global premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 25, 2026.
The screening turned into a lively gathering for the entertainment fraternity, with celebrities coming out to support the new film. Varun Dhawan was among the familiar Bollywood faces at the event, while singer-songwriter Ananya Birla and playback singer Jonita Gandhi added a musical touch to the guest list. Fashion designer Manish Malhotra also attended, making the evening a notable celebrity gathering ahead of the film’s digital debut.
Don’t Be Shy marks the directorial debut of Sreeti Mukerji, who has also written the film. The project is produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under their banner Eternal Sunshine Productions. The film features Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora and Piyush Khati in the lead roles, with Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik appearing in supporting roles.
At the centre of the story is 20-year-old Shyamili “Shy” Das, a young woman who believes she has carefully planned her life and knows where she is headed. However, when circumstances unexpectedly disrupt those plans, Shy is forced to confront the uncertainty that comes with stepping into adulthood. The film follows her as she navigates a phase of life where even familiar choices can suddenly feel complicated.
The story explores friendship, first love, heartbreak, dreams and the process of discovering one’s identity while growing up. Rather than presenting young adulthood as a straightforward journey, Don’t Be Shy appears to focus on the messy and unpredictable experiences that shape a person’s understanding of themselves. The coming-of-age angle gives the film an emotional foundation, while its romantic-comedy elements bring a lighter touch to Shy’s journey.
