During the Mirai press conference in Mumbai, Teja Sajja firmly responded to questions about his repeated roles in religious-themed films, calling out the double standards in the industry. When asked why he continues to be part of such films, he said, “I guess I don’t understand the question, why don’t people ask other actors why they are doing love-stories again and again and again. Why are you asking me this, when we are trying to show our Dharma, we must be proud of it, this is our land.”
He went on to explain the context behind his films and the message they carry: “What I would like to say is, these are our morals, and moreover this is just 3m10s trailer, and out of that, 10 second is our Lord Rama darshan, and for that you are asking me about religion, this film has fantasy, action, adventure, and even in Hanu-Man, that was also a super hero movie, there I got a sister in the film, that emotion is different, we are trying to bring out a small moral, or connection with Ittihas, in a very cool way, and you ought to be happy that for younger generation we are trying to tell our history in a very cool way.”
Teja’s last release, Hanu-Man (2024), was a major box office success and established him as a promising actor in Telugu cinema.
