Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to light up the big screen this Diwali with Thamma, the latest and fifth installment in the ever-expanding Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. Known for his love of offbeat characters and socially driven roles, Ayushmann is now venturing into supernatural territory—armed with his signature charm, a dose of fear, and plenty of laughter. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and co-written by the powerhouse trio Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara, Thamma promises a fresh blend of romance, horror, and hilarity.
Speaking at the trailer launch in Mumbai, Ayushmann shared his excitement about joining the franchise. “This is something very special,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to be part of a comedy universe, and Maddock’s is the most sought-after in Indian cinema.” Once again, he's playing the everyman who’s thrown into wildly extraordinary circumstances. “There are supernatural powers around me, and I don’t know what to do—that’s the fun,” he laughed, hinting at the spooky chaos the film promises.
When asked about working with producer Dinesh Vijan, Ayushmann didn’t hold back his admiration. “I truly believe in Dinesh Vijan. I even wish him on Teachers’ Day sometimes!” he joked. “You learn so much under him, and you’re in very safe hands.” With Amar Kaushik also producing, the creative minds behind hits like Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya are back to expand their quirky, eerie cinematic world, now with Thamma as the next chapter.
Also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal, and with music by the ever-reliable duo Sachin–Jigar, Thamma is shaping up to be a Diwali firecracker. With its theatrical release set for October 21, 2025, this genre-bending film is poised to offer laughs, love, and just the right amount of chills—making it a must-watch festive treat.
