Veteran actor and filmmaker Anupam Kher took to social media to express his heartfelt gratitude after the screening of his directorial debut Tanvi The Great at the iconic Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai. Sharing a deeply emotional note, Kher reflected on the overwhelming audience response and a poignant interaction that once again reaffirmed his belief in the transformative power of cinema.

In his post, Kher wrote, “THANK YOU KALA GHODA CULTURAL FESTIVAL, MUMBAI! for screening of our film #TanviTheGreat at your prestigious and iconic festival. I loved the vibe and surroundings! The organisation and the volunteers have done a wonderful job! The screening of the movie was received with applauses, laughters and tears!” He also praised the film’s moderator, adding that “the talented Miss #JuhiiBabbar was sensitive, brilliant and warm to all the panelists.”

The most moving moment of the evening came during the post-screening Q&A session. Recalling the incident, Kher shared how a gentleman in the audience broke down while speaking about Shubhangi Dutt’s performance as Tanvi, an autistic young woman. “It broke my heart completely when during the Q&A… a gentleman broke down while speaking about the brilliant portrayal of our lead #ShubhangiDutt. Because it reminded him of his autistic 25-year-old son,” Kher wrote. The moment became even more emotional when the man revealed that his son had passed away recently, adding that the character of Tanvi helped him feel better.

Tanvi The Great, a 2025 Hindi drama, follows the journey of Tanvi, who sets out to fulfill her late father’s dream of saluting the Indian flag at Siachen Glacier. The film sensitively explores themes of neurodiversity, resilience, and familial bonds, with Shubhangi Dutt’s performance earning widespread appreciation for its authenticity and warmth. Anupam Kher also plays a pivotal role in the film.

Concluding his post, Kher reflected on the emotional power of storytelling, noting that “Sometimes cinema does magical things. Especially films like TANVI THE GREAT.” Currently running in its 19th week in limited theatres, the film continues to resonate deeply with audiences—proving that meaningful cinema can heal, comfort, and connect people in ways words often cannot.
