Anubhav Sinha recently took to his X profile to share an emotional post about how audiences have begun revisiting his earlier body of work. “It is such a wonderful feeling when people talk about your work from over three decades back — Shikast, Sea Hawks, Tum Bin, Dus, Ra One. Your heart fills with gratitude for the universe,” he wrote, expressing deep appreciation for the renewed attention toward his films.

The filmmaker got particularly emotional while talking about Ra One, his ambitious 2011 sci-fi project starring Shah Rukh Khan. He recalled how, for years after its release, calls stopped coming, only for the film to suddenly start trending on social media years later. “No one answered my calls for years after Ra One. And then one day it started trending on this very platform. Ever since, the mention of Ra One has become a matter of joy and pride. A little late but yeah, it is a very strange emotion,” he wrote, also hinting that he might rewatch all his old works soon, possibly in chronological order.

Ra One may have divided critics upon its release, but it pushed visual boundaries for Indian cinema. With a sweeping budget of 130 crore and global earnings of over 207 crore, the film was ahead of its time in VFX innovation. While its storytelling met with mixed reviews, it laid the foundation for blending superhero themes with Indian sensibilities long before such genres became popular locally.

Following the resurgence of interest in his past films, Sinha seems to be embracing his creative evolution with renewed energy. The filmmaker, who has since delivered thought-provoking social dramas and gripping thrillers, continues to balance entertainment with introspection. His recent works and upcoming projects reinforce his ability to adapt, reflect, and reinvent—qualities that define his remarkable journey in Indian cinema.
