Vedang Raina Calls ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ His Toughest Role Yet: “It Took a Lot of Hard Work and Research”

Newcomer Vedang Raina is gearing up for one of the most emotionally intense roles of his career with Main Vaapas Aaunga, directed by Imtiaz Ali. The young actor, who plays a Sikh-Sardar character set in the 1940s, recently opened up about the demanding preparation process behind the film, revealing that it has been the most difficult role he has taken on so far.
 
Talking about the film and the extensive work that went into understanding his character, Vedang said, “This is my first time playing a Sikh character who belongs to the 1940s. It took a lot of effort, research and reading with Imtiaz sir… It took a lot of hard work and research, and did a lot readding with Imtiaz Ali, and if I talk about preparation wise, this has been the most difficult role for me, in-terms of hard work and time it took to get it right. I hope that people like the movie and the character.”
 
The film is set against the haunting backdrop of the 1947 Partition and promises to deliver a sweeping, multi-generational love story filled with nostalgia, heartbreak, and human emotion. Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah plays an aging man reflecting on his youth and lost love from his deathbed, narrating his memories to a character portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh. The younger versions of the lovers are played by Vedang Raina and Sharvari, making the film one of the most anticipated romantic dramas in recent times.
 
Known for crafting emotionally layered stories, Imtiaz Ali appears to be returning to his signature space of romance and longing with Main Vaapas Aaunga. The Partition backdrop adds historical depth to the narrative, while the casting of both established and rising stars has already generated significant buzz among movie lovers.
