Though it received a cold welcome at the box office, Sikandar is entering strongly for a second time—directly to your drawing room. Salman Khan Films has now announced the world TV premiere of 2025 action-drama Sikandar that will premiere on September 27, 2025, at 8 PM on Zee Cinema. In a video sharing on X, the following was written in the caption: "Har dil ka hai vo Sikandar, aa raha hai aapke TV screen par! Dekhiye #TVParPehliBaar 'Sikandar'…"—a Salman trademark punchline relying on his long-time fan passion.
A. R. Murugadoss-directed and Sajid Nadiadwala-produced, Sikandar features Salman Khan in the lead role along with Rashmika Mandanna, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, and Prateik Babbar.
The movie was released in March 2025, but received scathing reviews for its outdated narrative, clumsy script, and dearth of novelty—elements that rendered it Khan's biggest flops over the past few years. Its TV release might, however, provide it with a second lease of life among audiences who passed it by during the theatrical outing.
The plan is evident: leverage Salman Khan's gigantic TV exposure and loyal fan base that typically tunes in for his small-screen ventures. A Saturday evening prime-time time slot on Zee Cinema is a calculated approach to attract family audience and fans looking for a shot of masala entertainment. The premiere is also supported by an ensemble cast and big names like Pritam, Santhosh Narayanan, and Tirru (DOP) lending the film its technical sheen, even if the story lagged behind.
Even if Sikandar was no box office blockbuster, its TV premiere can redefine its legacy—as tends to happen with India's star-spangled vehicles. Occasionally, what flops in theaters gets its fans at home. And when the protagonist is Salman on screen, changing channels isn't always the first thing that comes to mind.
