Bengali cinema is all set to deliver a mystery steeped in art, politics, and poetry — and the newly dropped teaser for Madam Sengupta proves it's not just another thriller. Featuring the powerhouse duo of Rituparna Sengupta and Rahul Bose, the film teases a story that’s as layered as it is unsettling, where every sketch hides something more than just ink.
Directed by Sayantan Ghosal, Madam Sengupta dives into the life of a renowned cartoonist who suddenly finds herself at the centre of a deadly game. A game where politics, power, and poetry collide in unexpected ways. The film’s haunting tagline captures it best: “Each clue is a verse. Each murder, a message.”
The teaser, which just dropped, doesn’t reveal much — but that’s what makes it so chilling. We get glimpses of blood-stained pages, ominous silhouettes, and fleeting expressions of fear and fury. Rituparna, always a magnetic screen presence, brings both strength and vulnerability to what looks like a truly demanding role. Rahul Bose, as always, brings a quiet intensity, leaving you with more questions than answers.
Joining them is a stellar supporting cast: Kaushik Sen, Ananya Chatterjee, Paran Bandyopadhyay, Subrat Dutta, Kharaj Mukhopadhyay, and Shantilal Mukherjee — each one adding a layer to the tangled web of secrets this film seems ready to unravel.
Written by Sougata Basu, with cinematography by Tuban, the film looks visually rich, moody, and meticulous.
