Vertical has unveiled the official trailer for Just Play Dead, a dark new crime thriller from acclaimed filmmaker Martin Campbell, and it promises a deadly game where nobody can afford to trust anyone. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson and Eva Green as a wealthy married couple whose plans for a massive insurance payout quickly turn into an elaborate battle of deception, betrayal and murder. Jackson plays Jack Wolfe, a powerful criminal mastermind who finds himself cornered by federal authorities. His solution is as audacious as it is dangerous: fake his own death, collect a $30 million insurance payout with his wife Nora and frame her lover Chad for the crime. Believing that a dead man cannot be arrested, Jack carefully designs what he thinks is the perfect escape plan. But he makes one major mistake — underestimating the woman who knows him best.
Eva Green’s Nora Wolfe has spent years living under Jack’s ruthless control, and she sees his elaborate scheme as the perfect opportunity to finally take back her life. Instead of simply playing along with the fake-death plan, Nora decides to make Jack’s death very real and keep the fortune for herself. Her lover Chad, played by the film’s supporting cast, becomes an unwilling pawn in a much bigger game, leaving everyone scrambling to figure out who is manipulating whom.
