The Indian entertainment landscape is steadily moving toward immersive storytelling, and the launch of The Legend Of Vvan comic book at Mumbai Comic Con 2026 is a strong example of that shift. The event, held on Saturday, May 9, saw the presence of Sidharth Malhotra, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ekta Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar, and Deepak Mishra, as they came together to promote their upcoming film Vvan: Force Of The Forest. In a rare creative move, the makers first built the film’s universe and then expanded it into a comic book, rather than the other way around.
Producer Ekta Kapoor believes this is just the beginning of something much bigger. Speaking at the launch, she said, “We have left a lot of Easter eggs in the film. There's a lot of folklore and what you stay is the fanfiction that comes out of the film. There's going to be a lot of fanfiction. People will make their own stories because it's giving birth to many conspiracy theories.” Her words hint at a storytelling style that doesn’t end when the film does, but continues in the imagination of its audience.
She further added, “It's the genesis of a whole new world and it's the beginning of probably this is just the catalyst or the moment where the story begins, the root. We're going to open up a lot more possibilities. I think there'll be a lot more fan fiction after the movie.” This idea positions Vvan not just as a film, but as a creative ecosystem where audiences actively participate in shaping narratives beyond the screen.
Actor Sidharth Malhotra, who plays a key role in the film, also shared his excitement about how the story has evolved into a visual comic format. He said, “Well, absolutely. I think uh you know one represents the folklore that we have. We have such a rich culture and so many stories in India to tell and that's the reason um I'm most excited about this film. I think it talks about our folk stories which comes from TVF and their writing and then Ektaa Kapoor giving uh you know her producer inputs into it and mounting it on that level.”
He continued, “And today all thanks to that we have this comic book which is I think the most special for me as an actor to see a story a character come alive on in art, who sketches first and hopefully they'll have the same effect once they see the movie on. It's coming out on 28th of August this year. Yeah. And we're pretty excited to bring our rooted story to the cinemas and to the fans here of comic book and comic-con.” His statement highlights how meaningful it is for an actor to see their character reimagined through illustration, adding a new emotional layer to storytelling.
With creators like Alok Sharma and Saumin Patel shaping the comic adaptation, Vvan: Force Of The Forest is clearly designed as more than just a one-time cinematic experience. Slated for release on August 28, the film is positioning itself as the foundation of a larger narrative universe filled with folklore, mystery, and audience-driven interpretations. If the early buzz is anything to go by, Vvan might just mark the beginning of India’s next big transmedia storytelling wave.
