Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently shared a heartwarming video on social media, reuniting with his music teacher from 1972-73, Prof. Som Datt Battu, after more than five decades. Captured during the ongoing shoot of Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 in Gurgaon, the reunion showcases nostalgic memories of college plays, Anupam’s early acting, and blessings exchanged between teacher and student. Kher’s caption reflected the emotional moment: “It was so wonderful to get his blessings! He kept referring to me as beta! At this age, not many people call me #Beta except for my mother!”
Prof. Som Datt Battu, a Shimla-based Hindustani classical vocalist from the Patiala Gharana, was awarded the Padma Shri in 2024 for his seven decades of contributions to classical and folk music. Kher’s tribute highlights not only Battu’s musical genius but also the life lessons imparted to him during his formative years at Govt. College, Shimla.
Khosla Ka Ghosla 2, now in production, began filming in Delhi on January 3, 2026, under director Umesh Bist, replacing Dibakar Banerjee who helmed the original. Anupam Kher announced a near-completion of his scenes on January 18, 2026, stating that around 90% of his work is wrapped. The sequel reunites the original “Khosla family,” including Boman Irani, Ranvir Shorey, Parvin Dabas, Tara Sharma, and Kiran Juneja, alongside newcomers Ravi Kishan and Tania Maniktala.
While plot specifics remain under wraps, Kher has teased that the central con in this installment is “bigger than the biggest” compared to the original land-scam satire, promising even more comedic chaos and clever twists for fans of the first film.
This touching reunion between Anupam Kher and his revered guru serves as a reminder of the enduring impact teachers have on their students, blending nostalgia with the excitement surrounding one of Bollywood’s most loved sequels.
