Marvel Studios has unveiled the official trailer for VisionQuest, the highly anticipated MCU spin off series continuing the story that began with WandaVision. Led by Paul Bettany as the enigmatic android Vision, the new series takes the character into a very different phase of his existence as he searches for answers about his identity, memories and humanity. The series is scheduled to premiere on October 14, 2026.

The story follows Vision after he has been rebooted and escaped those who once wanted to turn him into a weapon. Now living in hiding, Vision is determined to discover what remains of the person he once was and find a new purpose. His quiet existence is disrupted when a bounty is placed on his head, forcing him out of hiding and into a dangerous situation where survival may depend on his ability to trust others and form genuine connections.

Paul Bettany returns to one of his most iconic Marvel roles, having first portrayed Vision in Avengers Age of Ultron before becoming a central figure in WandaVision. That Disney Plus series explored Vision’s relationship with Wanda Maximoff while also raising complicated questions about identity, grief, consciousness and what it means to be human. VisionQuest appears ready to continue those themes while giving Vision a story that belongs entirely to him.

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the new series is the return of James Spader as Ultron. Spader originally voiced the artificial intelligence villain in Avengers Age of Ultron, making his involvement in VisionQuest a particularly intriguing development. Vision was created using technology connected to Ultron, and their history gives the new series an opportunity to explore one of the MCU’s most fascinating relationships between artificial intelligence and humanity.

The cast also includes Todd Stashwick as Paladin, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff and T'Nia Miller as Jocasta. The series introduces an unusual collection of AI characters as well, with Emily Hampshire playing E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.E, Jonathan Sayer as U and James D'Arcy returning as J.A.R.V.I.S. The presence of so many artificial intelligence characters suggests that the series could explore a much wider world of sentient technology within the MCU.

The story also has an emotional connection to Vision’s past through Tommy Maximoff, adding another intriguing layer to the character’s continuing journey. After everything Vision experienced with Wanda and their family, his attempt to build a new life could force him to confront memories and relationships that he may have wanted to leave behind. The idea of found family appears to be at the heart of the series, giving the superhero story a more personal dimension.

VisionQuest is created and showrun by Terry Matalas, who also serves as one of the writers. The writing team includes Cindy Appel, Nicole Falsetti, Christopher Monfette, Matthew Okumura and Michael Taylor. Episodes are directed by Matalas alongside Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali and Christopher J. Byrne, bringing together a creative team with experience in character-driven science fiction and genre storytelling.

The trailer suggests that VisionQuest will combine Marvel’s familiar superhero spectacle with a more unusual science fiction story about consciousness, memory and identity. Vision has always been one of the MCU’s most philosophical characters, and placing him alongside Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S. and a new generation of artificial intelligence characters could allow the series to explore questions that the larger franchise has only touched upon.

After the emotional intensity of WandaVision, fans have been waiting to see where Vision’s story could go next. VisionQuest finally offers that continuation while introducing new threats, new allies and an entirely different chapter for the character. With Paul Bettany returning, James Spader back as Ultron and a mysterious bounty putting Vision in danger, the series is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most intriguing upcoming projects when it arrives on October 14, 2026.
