Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer for Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings The Rings of Power, promising an epic return to Middle-earth filled with massive battles, powerful rivalries and the growing threat of Sauron. The latest preview offers a closer look at the returning heroes, new characters and the dark forces gathering across the fantasy world. With spectacular combat sequences, the fearsome Balrog and Sauron's pursuit of ultimate power, the upcoming season looks set to raise the stakes when it premieres on November 11, 2026.
The new season picks up five years after the fall of Eregion, with Middle-earth engulfed in war. Sauron's armies have advanced across the lands, leaving only a few strongholds standing between the Dark Lord and his ambition to dominate the world. The Dwarves remain deep within the mountain kingdom of Khazad-dûm, while the Elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell continue to resist under the protection of the Three Rings. As danger spreads, the free peoples of Middle-earth must find a way to unite before their remaining defences collapse.
At the centre of the conflict is Sauron's relentless pursuit of the One Ring. Working from his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr in Mordor, the Dark Lord seeks to harness a power capable of bringing his enemies under his control. The trailer highlights his growing influence and teases the completion of the legendary Ring, a pivotal development in the larger story of Middle-earth. With the Elves closing in on him, the race to stop Sauron's rise promises to drive much of the season's tension.
Benjamin Walker returns as High King Gil-galad, alongside familiar cast members including Owain Arthur, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, Robert Aramayo and Morfydd Clark. The new season also introduces Jamie Campbell Bower as Celeborn, Galadriel's long-lost husband. Eddie Marsan joins the cast as Thráin, King Durin's brother, while Andrew Richardson plays Anárion, Isildur's younger brother. Adam Young also appears as Marnûkh, a mysterious Orc whose true nature remains a question mark.
Beyond its expanding cast, the trailer places a strong emphasis on large-scale fantasy spectacle. Battles unfold across Middle-earth as Elves, Dwarves and Men confront the forces of darkness. The Balrog makes another striking appearance, while the mounting threat of Sauron's armies gives the action a sense of urgency. These sequences suggest a season that will balance the personal struggles of its characters with a wider conflict that could determine the fate of entire kingdoms.
Developed by showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay, The Rings of Power explores the Second Age of Middle-earth, long before the events of The Lord of the Rings. Season 3 is directed by Charlotte Brändström, Sanaa Hamri and Stefan Schwartz. With the war intensifying and the One Ring moving closer to becoming a reality, the new chapter promises another journey through the history and mythology of Tolkien's world. The season arrives on Prime Video on November 11, 2026, and fans will soon discover whether Middle-earth's remaining defenders can unite before Sauron achieves his ultimate ambition.
