Peacock has dropped the main official trailer for The Good Daughter, and this family drama is hiding something seriously dark beneath the surface. Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel of the same name, the thriller follows sisters Samantha and Charlotte Quinn, whose lives were shattered by a horrific night of violence two decades ago. Now, just when they have started putting the pieces back together, another brutal attack rocks their small town of Pikeville — and suddenly, old wounds, buried secrets and painful memories come rushing back.

Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy headline the series as Samantha and Charlotte, two sisters whose complicated bond sits at the heart of the story. Charlotte, now a lawyer like her father, becomes the first witness at the scene of the latest attack, putting her directly in the middle of a case that appears to have far more going on than anyone initially realises. What begins as an investigation soon starts dragging the family’s past back into the present, forcing Charlotte and Samantha to confront things they may have spent years trying to forget.

The trailer cleverly plays with two timelines, moving between the sisters’ traumatic past and the disturbing events unfolding in present-day Pikeville. But there are plenty of hints that this isn’t simply a story about surviving one terrible night. Something much stranger appears to be lurking beneath the surface, and the glimpses of the town suggest that there are secrets hiding in places where audiences least expect them. The further Charlotte gets into the mystery, the more unsettling the entire situation becomes.

And that is where The Good Daughter looks particularly intriguing. The trailer keeps dropping little clues about something darker happening in the shadows, while never quite revealing how all the pieces connect. The dual storylines create an unnerving atmosphere as memories from 20 years ago begin colliding with the new investigation. Just when it seems like one mystery is being solved, another question appears, making it difficult to know who can actually be trusted. There is clearly more to this town, this family and that night of violence than meets the eye.

Alongside Byrne and Fahy, the series features Brendan Gleeson, Harper Steele, Paula Malcomson, Jake McDorman, Olivia Williams and Michael Dorman. Author Karin Slaughter created and wrote the series herself, adapting her own novel for the screen. Episodes are directed by Steph Green, with Fifth Season and Made Up Stories behind the project. The series is executive produced by Slaughter, Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, Casey Haver, Rose Byrne and Steph Green, giving the adaptation a strong creative team closely connected to the source material.

At its core, The Good Daughter promises to be as much about family as it is about suspense. It explores love, resilience, trauma and the complicated ties between two sisters and their father, while wrapping everything inside a mystery that looks increasingly sinister. The biggest question is how those two timelines eventually collide — and what the characters will uncover when they finally connect all the pieces. The Good Daughter premieres on Peacock on November 12, 2026, and judging by this trailer, Pikeville is a town where the past definitely isn’t staying buried.
