Netflix has unveiled the first look teaser for its upcoming crime thriller series Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole, bringing one of literature’s most iconic anti-heroes to the small screen. Set to premiere on March 26, 2026, the series promises a dark, gripping narrative full of obsession, betrayal, and the murky line between justice and revenge.

The show stars Tobias Santelmann as the brilliant but tormented homicide detective Harry Hole, who must confront his own demons while tracking a cunning serial killer. Adding to the tension is Joel Kinnaman as corrupt detective Tom Waaler, Harry’s long-time adversary, and Pia Tjelta as Rakel Fauke, whose presence adds emotional depth to Harry’s journey. The expansive ensemble cast includes names like Peter Stormare, Eili Harboe, Kristoffer Joner, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Jesper Christensen, and many more, ensuring a powerhouse of talent across the Norwegian crime landscape.

Based on the bestselling novels by Jo Nesbø—author of The Snowman, The Bat, and Killing Moon—the series marks the first adaptation of Nesbø’s work into a serialized format. While each episode offers the pulse-pounding intensity of a classic whodunnit, the show also delves deep into character drama, exploring the uneasy dynamic between supposed colleagues Harry Hole and Tom Waaler as they navigate blurred ethical lines within the justice system.

Directors Øystein Karlsen and Anna Zackrisson helm the episodes, with production by Tor Arne Øvrebø and the series crafted under Working Title. The project is executive produced by a team including Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Amelia Granger, Katy Rozelle, René Ezra, Øystein Karlsen, Jo Nesbø, and Niclas Salomonsson, ensuring both creative fidelity to the novels and cinematic scale for streaming audiences.

The teaser itself hints at a tense, atmospheric thriller: rain-soaked streets, shadowed interiors, and subtle glimpses of both crime scenes and character introspection. It perfectly captures the tone fans of Nesbø’s novels would expect—tense, dark, and emotionally resonant—while promising surprises even for newcomers to the Harry Hole universe.

With the March 26 release, Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole is set to be one of the most anticipated crime series of 2026, combining Nordic noir’s signature grit with complex storytelling, moral ambiguity, and chilling suspense.
