As Bigg Boss 19 officially kickstarted with its much-awaited grand premiere, one of the most talked-about entries this season is that of Awez Darbar—dancer, choreographer, and one of India’s most popular digital content creators.
Hosted by Salman Khan, the show returned with full force on JioHotstar and Colors TV, revealing a fresh batch of contestants, each bringing their own flair, backstories, and game plans. But for Awez, stepping into the Bigg Boss house wasn’t just another gig—it was a long-awaited personal milestone.
“I’m feeling really overwhelmed,” he shared ahead of his entry. “What I had imagined and what’s happening now are two totally different things… I’m speechless. This moment is all because of the audience. Whatever I am today, it’s because of them.”
“It Took a While to Say Yes…” Awez admitted that this wasn’t the first time he was approached for the show.
“I was approached a couple of times before, but I wasn’t in India then. I had committed to other projects, so I couldn’t say yes. But this time when it got confirmed… that’s when it really hit me: Okay, this is actually happening.”
And now that it is happening, Awez is ready to give it his all.
“I’m going to be myself inside the house. After years of making content, I think it’s time to just live without planning or editing anything. There’s no ‘cut’ here—just the real me.”
His journey has never followed a straight line. From being a dancer to a creator, and from being the son of a renowned music director to finding his own identity, Awez believes in one motto: give your 100%, no matter what. “My dad always wanted me to learn music—I didn’t want to. But I still did it. Whether I love something or not, I believe in giving my best. I’ve fought my way to this point. This reality show—Bigg Boss—was the last checkbox I had left to tick. And if I had to pick one, why not the biggest reality show in India?”
“Now, I’m not nervous anymore. I’m just super excited.”
Having lived away from home during his dance-teaching days in Pune and Delhi, Awez is no stranger to distance—but this time is different. “Back then, I always had a phone. I could call, stay connected. But now, no phone, no family—it’s going to be a different experience altogether. I want to figure out how I’ll really manage without that support system.”
Awez also shared which former contestants he admired most: “There are many I’ve liked over the years, but if I had to pick one, it’s Gauahar Khan. Not just because she’s family, but because I genuinely admire her. She’s real. Siddharth Shukla was also very genuine—he had anger, but also a fun side. I feel I’m a mix of both. Maybe a bit like Munawar too. I relate to parts of each of them.”
As he steps into the house, Awez Darbar isn’t just competing for the trophy—he’s looking to evolve, to extend his family, and to show the world who he truly is, without the filters and the edits.
