Modern dating can be exciting, confusing and, at times, downright unpredictable. From decoding mixed signals and spotting red flags to figuring out first-date expectations, there is no shortage of questions when it comes to finding the right connection. Now, Bumble is bringing these dilemmas into the spotlight with the India launch of its social-first advice series, Bee Line, featuring Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor, Olympic table tennis star Manika Batra and rapper Reble. Launching on October 17, the series aims to turn the dating questions usually discussed in private group chats into candid conversations featuring three women with very different life experiences.

Janhvi Kapoor leads the Indian edition as its first host, bringing her candid personality and personal take on romance to the conversation. The series draws on real questions submitted by daters across India, covering everything from first-date nerves and dating expectations to the red flags and little quirks that can make or break a connection. Rather than presenting dating as a one-size-fits-all experience, Bee Line gives its hosts room to share their individual opinions, challenge common assumptions and discuss the situations many people encounter while meeting someone new. For Janhvi, the format also feels familiar, as friends have often turned to her for advice on their own romantic dilemmas.

Speaking about her association with the series, Janhvi said, “I’m a hopeless romantic with very high standards, which is a lot. So, I’ve always been the friend people call about their dating dilemmas. What I love about Bee Line is the questions come straight from real people. One of them was so unhinged I had to phone my sister for a second opinion. But most of the time they just need someone to say the honest things out loud, so whoever’s calling feels heard and hopefully a bit more sorted. And with the other two picking up their own calls and answering in their own way, it makes for a much more fun watch.”

Joining Janhvi are Manika Batra, a three-time table tennis Olympian, and rapper Reble, who bring perspectives shaped by their respective careers and experiences. For Manika, the conversation around dating has strong parallels with the discipline and independence required in professional sport. She believes a healthy relationship should encourage personal growth rather than demand that someone change who they are. Sharing her perspective, she said, “Coming from the world of sport, I’ve always understood the importance of focus, independence and knowing what you want. The best coaches back you without trying to change you, and the right person is the same. Someone who respects who you are and supports the person you are becoming, rather than asking you to compromise who you are. Doing Bee Line alongside two women from very different worlds was a good reminder that there isn’t one definition of dating, and that’s what makes the conversation so interesting.”

Reble, meanwhile, believes that being genuine is far more valuable than pretending to be effortlessly cool. Her approach encourages people to ask direct questions, acknowledge their feelings and accept that honest answers may not always be what they hoped to hear. Explaining what she likes about the series, she said, “I feel like sometimes we try way too hard to look unbothered when really we’re just overthinking it all in our heads. I do think it’s always better to just ask the honest questions and be prepared for the answers, even if sometimes it’s not exactly what you wanna hear. That’s what I like about Bee Line. It’s just honest dating advice. No overcomplicating things, no sugar-coated answers. Just telling you how it is.”

Following its US debut earlier this summer and expansion into Australia last month, where Grammy-nominated artist Troye Sivan shared his take on dating, Bee Line is now bringing the format to India. Episodes will roll out individually, beginning with Janhvi, followed by Reble and Manika. With three distinct personalities tackling real-life dating dilemmas, Bumble’s latest series aims to make conversations about modern relationships more open, relatable and entertaining. After all, sometimes the advice you need is the honest opinion of a friend who is willing to tell you what you may not want to hear.
