Vision Quest is getting ready to bring Paul Bettany’s Vision back to the Marvel universe, and the second trailer has arrived with plenty of futuristic action, emotional stakes and familiar faces. The upcoming Disney+ series serves as a continuation of the acclaimed WandaVision, shifting the focus towards the vibranium-powered android as he attempts to rebuild his life after everything he has been through. This time, however, staying hidden will not be an option for long. A bounty placed on Vision’s head forces him out of the shadows and into a dangerous fight where finding allies may be just as important as finding his own identity.
The new trailer opens with a striking line, “Free me. And save your son.” It immediately sets up the mystery and emotional conflict surrounding Vision’s return. Played once again by Paul Bettany, Vision is a rebooted version of the character who has escaped those seeking to turn him into a weapon. Now hiding from the outside world, he is searching for meaning while trying to understand what it means to be human despite being an artificial being. The arrival of a bounty changes everything, pushing him towards connections he may not have expected to make.
One of the biggest attractions of Vision Quest is the return of James Spader as Ultron. The villain’s comeback adds another layer of danger to Vision’s already complicated journey, particularly because their history is deeply connected to the character’s origins. The series also introduces several other characters, including Todd Stashwick as Paladin, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff and T'Nia Miller as Jocasta. With the story revolving around artificial intelligence, technology and Vision’s struggle for independence, the new characters appear to have an important role in expanding the series’ futuristic world.
The show is also going all-in on its technological side with a fascinating group of AI characters. Emily Hampshire plays E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady takes on the role of F.R.I.D.A.Y., Henry Lewis plays D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer appears as U, while James D’Arcy returns as J.A.R.V.I.S. The collection of AI personalities gives the series a distinctly sci-fi identity while also connecting it to different technological elements that Marvel fans have encountered throughout the franchise. The combination of advanced technology and Vision’s emotional search for humanity appears to be at the heart of the show.
VisionQuest has been created and showrun by Terry Matalas, known for his work on series including Star Trek: Picard and 12 Monkeys. The writing team includes Matalas, Cindy Appel, Nicole Falsetti, Christopher Monfette, Matthew Okumura and Michael Taylor. Episodes are directed by Matalas along with Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali and Christopher J. Byrne. Marvel Television is behind the series, with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, Trevor Waterson, Terry Matalas and Christopher J. Byrne among the executive producers.
With Vision once again at the centre, Ultron returning and an entirely new collection of characters entering his world, VisionQuest looks set to take the MCU further into the world of artificial intelligence, robotics and found family. The series is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026. For fans who have been wondering what happened to Vision after his previous appearances, the new series finally promises some answers — while giving Paul Bettany’s character another chance to discover who he is and what kind of life he wants to build.
