Vijay Deverakonda is turning up the heat for his next big screen outing Ranabaali. The actor has unveiled the official poster of the much-awaited period action drama and confirmed that the film will release worldwide in cinemas on October 16, 2026. With its fiery visuals and rugged version of the actor, the poster has instantly raised expectations around the ambitious project.
Sharing the poster on social media, Vijay Deverakonda kept the announcement short and powerful, writing, “This OCT 16. Worldwide in Cinemas near you. #RANABAALI.” The message was accompanied by the striking first look, which presents the actor in a completely transformed avatar that looks far removed from his contemporary roles.
The poster features Vijay shirtless, sporting long hair and a thick moustache while holding a weapon against a backdrop engulfed in flames. His intense expression and physically imposing appearance suggest that Ranabaali is going to showcase the actor in one of his most rugged roles yet. The visual immediately hints at a story filled with rebellion, violence and survival.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is set in 19th-century South India and is expected to explore a turbulent period marked by British colonial rule, famine and exploitation. At the centre of the story is a fierce rebel who refuses to surrender in the face of oppression, setting the stage for a larger-than-life historical action drama.
Vijay Deverakonda takes on the lead role, while Rashmika Mandanna stars as his on-screen wife, Jayamma. The pairing of the two actors has already generated considerable excitement, especially after their previous collaborations. In Ranabaali, however, their characters appear to be placed in a far more intense and historically charged setting.
The physical transformation seen in the poster also reflects the preparation that has reportedly gone into Vijay’s role. The actor underwent training in horse riding and combat techniques to convincingly portray a character from the period. The long hair, moustache and muscular appearance further enhance the impression that he has completely immersed himself in the world of the film.
Ranabaali is being mounted as a pan-Indian Telugu-language production, with Mythri Movie Makers backing the ambitious project on a grand scale. The film is expected to combine historical drama with large-scale action and emotional storytelling, giving Vijay another opportunity to experiment with a demanding character.
The October 16 release date places Ranabaali among the major theatrical releases lined up for the festive period. With Vijay Deverakonda leading the film and Rahul Sankrityan bringing a period setting to the screen, the project has already become one of the more anticipated Telugu films of 2026.
For now, the fiery poster has done exactly what a first look is supposed to do — create curiosity without revealing too much. Vijay Deverakonda’s rugged appearance, the historical backdrop and the promise of rebellion suggest that Ranabaali could offer audiences a very different side of the actor.
Ranabaali arrives worldwide in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
