Vijay Deverakonda has turned up the excitement surrounding his upcoming period action drama Ranabaali by unveiling the intense lyrical video of its latest song, Kobali. The actor shared a clip from the high-energy track on social media, offering fans a glimpse of his fierce warrior avatar and the film's grand visual world. Promoting the song ahead of the film's theatrical release, Vijay wrote, “The Wild Power of #Ranabaali #KOBALI This Dasara - we meet.” The announcement has added to the growing anticipation for the film, which pairs Vijay with Rashmika Mandanna in a historical drama rooted in the turbulent past of the Rayalaseema region.
Kobali has been presented as a mass anthem, combining powerful musical energy with imagery that reflects the film's intense setting. In the lyrical video, Vijay appears in a bloodied, battle-ready avatar, pulling a temple chariot and wielding a trident amid a charged ritualistic atmosphere. The visuals emphasise the raw physicality of his character, suggesting a man shaped by conflict, resistance and an unrelenting determination to fight back. The striking imagery gives the song a distinctive identity, blending religious and cultural motifs with the larger-than-life presentation associated with action-driven commercial cinema.
The song has been composed by the celebrated musical duo Ajay-Atul, whose dramatic soundscapes have become a recognisable feature of their work. Their music for Kobali adds to the track's forceful mood, complementing the imagery of a warrior rising against overwhelming odds. Rather than serving merely as a promotional number, the song appears designed to establish the temperament of Vijay's character and the larger conflict at the heart of the film. With its energetic presentation and dramatic visuals, Kobali gives audiences another taste of the scale and intensity that the makers are bringing to Ranabaali.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is set against the backdrop of the devastating Madras famine of 1876–78, with its story unfolding in the Rayalaseema region. Vijay plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a rebel whose struggle is linked to resistance against British colonial forces. The historical setting provides the foundation for a story that combines action, regional folklore and the experiences of people living through a period of severe hardship. By placing its central character within this turbulent chapter of history, the film aims to bring together the spectacle of a period drama and the emotional stakes of a fight against oppression.
Rashmika Mandanna co-stars in the film, reuniting with Vijay for another major screen outing. Their pairing has already attracted attention, while the film's period setting and action-heavy presentation distinguish it from a conventional contemporary drama. The makers have been building interest through promotional material that highlights the scale of the production, the characters' intense appearances and the historical backdrop. With Vijay's transformation into Ranabaali taking centre stage, the film appears to place considerable emphasis on its protagonist's journey and the forces that push him towards rebellion.
Scheduled for a pan-India theatrical release on October 16, 2026, around the Dasara festive period, Ranabaali is gearing up for a major arrival in cinemas. The release of Kobali adds another promotional boost just days before audiences get to experience the film on the big screen. With Ajay-Atul's music, Rahul Sankrityan's direction and Vijay Deverakonda's fierce new avatar, the historical action drama is positioning itself as one of the festive season's prominent releases. For now, Kobali offers a powerful glimpse of the rebellion, cultural imagery and action that await viewers when Ranabaali arrives in theatres.
