T-Series marked a major milestone for Indian cinema by celebrating 20 years of Krrish, the iconic superhero film that redefined the landscape of mainstream Hindi cinema. Sharing a video tribute, the banner wrote, "Not just a movie… a story to make you believe in miracles. Celebrating 20 years of Krrish. #20YearsOfKrrish" alongside credits to Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, Naseeruddin Shah, Rekha and others associated with the film.

Directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan under Filmkraft Productions, Krrish served as the second installment in the Koi... Mil Gaya universe and introduced India’s first widely celebrated homegrown superhero franchise. The film featured Hrithik Roshan in a dual role as Rohit Mehra and his son Krishna Mehra, a character who inherits superhuman abilities and eventually becomes the masked vigilante Krrish.

The story follows Krishna as he travels to Singapore in pursuit of love, only to find himself drawn into a larger battle against Dr. Siddhant Arya, a scientist developing a powerful supercomputer capable of predicting the future. Blending romance, science fiction and action, the film positioned itself as a large-scale spectacle aimed at both domestic and global audiences.

Krrish was notable for its ambitious visual design and international-standard action choreography. The film’s VFX work involved contributions from Marc Kolbe and Craig Mumma, while action sequences were choreographed by renowned stunt expert Tony Ching. Its music was composed by Rajesh Roshan, with background score by Salim–Sulaiman, further adding to its cinematic scale.

A significant portion of the film was shot in Singapore and India, reinforcing its global aesthetic and positioning it as one of the early Indian films to heavily invest in international production values. Upon release, Krrish became a major box office success and emerged as one of the highest-grossing Indian superhero films of its time.

Beyond its commercial impact, the film is widely regarded as a turning point in Indian cinema’s approach to the superhero genre. It helped establish a foundation for large-scale Indian VFX-driven storytelling and opened the doors for future franchise filmmaking in the country.

The Krrish franchise later expanded with Krrish 3 in 2013, while the next installment is currently expected to begin production in early 2026, continuing the legacy of India’s most recognizable superhero universe.
