The newly inaugurated $21 million venue at Fairplex in Pomona marks a historic milestone as the first cricket stadium built and operated by a cricket team ownership group. Designed to meet ICC standards, the ground currently accommodates around 5,000 spectators, with expansion plans set to increase the capacity to 15,000 by 2028. The stadium is also expected to play a significant role in cricket's return to the Olympic stage, with T20 events planned as part of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The opening coincided with the Los Angeles Knight Riders beginning their home fixtures in the 2026 Major League Cricket season against Washington Freedom. Fans filled the stands waving the franchise's signature purple-and-gold colours, creating a vibrant atmosphere as professional cricket found a permanent home in Southern California. The venue is being seen as a major boost for the sport's growth in the United States and an important investment in cricket's global future.
