Briarcliff Entertainment has unveiled the official trailer for Nickels, an emotional drama that explores grief, family, faith and the mysterious possibility that some connections may survive even after death. Directed by indie filmmaker Spencer King, the film stars Rob Riggle in a strikingly dramatic role as a man whose life has been shaped by a tragedy he has never truly been able to leave behind.

Riggle plays Tom Monroe, a successful entrepreneur and devoted family man who has spent decades carrying the pain of losing his older brother in a motorcycle accident. The tragedy happened when Tom was young, but the memories have remained with him, quietly influencing the person he became and the way he sees life.

Thirty years later, Tom's carefully controlled world is shaken when Mitch Diller, the son of his neighbour, is involved in a devastating motorcycle crash. The incident brings Tom's long-buried memories rushing back, but this time he begins to wonder if there could be something more to the strange coincidence.  The trailer hints at Tom developing a powerful belief that his brother's spirit may somehow have returned. What follows is not presented as a straightforward supernatural mystery. Instead, Nickels appears to deliberately sit somewhere between grief and faith, asking whether the human mind searches for meaning in tragedy or whether certain coincidences really can point towards something beyond our understanding.

For Rob Riggle, the film offers a very different showcase from the comedic roles audiences often associate with him. As Tom, the actor appears vulnerable, troubled and emotionally consumed by a past that refuses to stay buried. His performance seems to form the emotional heart of the story as Tom begins searching for answers that could completely change his understanding of loss.

Aaron Holliday plays Mitch Diller, the young man whose accident becomes the catalyst for Tom's increasingly personal investigation. His character's connection to Tom's past creates the central mystery, while also forcing Tom's family to confront questions they may not be prepared to answer.

The consequences of Tom's obsession reach far beyond his own memories. His daughter Harper, played by Odessa A'zion, and his wife, played by Bitsie Tulloch, are drawn into his search as he tries to determine whether what he is experiencing is simply coincidence, unresolved grief or evidence of something extraordinary.  The film's premise gives Nickels an intriguing emotional hook. Instead of focusing solely on whether reincarnation is real, the story appears more interested in what happens when someone desperately wants to believe that the person they lost might somehow still be present.

That makes the movie as much about grief as it is about mystery. Tom has spent decades trying to move forward, yet one unexpected event forces him to revisit the emotional wound he thought he had learned to live with. His journey raises a deeply human question: how much of our past are we actually capable of letting go?

Spencer King directs Nickels from a screenplay written by Tim Tuchrello. The supporting cast also features June Schreiner, Tom Arnold and Odessa A'zion, adding further layers to the Monroe family's story.

The trailer keeps much of the mystery deliberately under wraps, which could work in the film's favour. Rather than revealing whether Tom's theory is correct, it leaves viewers questioning the events alongside him. Is there genuinely a connection between Mitch and Tom's late brother, or is Tom simply seeing a pattern because he desperately needs one?

Nickels is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026. If the official trailer is any indication, this could be an unexpectedly moving story about the scars we carry, the people we lose and the possibility that some bonds may never truly disappear.
