Maddock Films has officially announced the trailer release of Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam, and the film is already creating curiosity with its intense subject. The production house shared a powerful promo on social media with the caption, “Yeh taarikh yaad hai, taqleef yaad hai, aur ab... Insaaf ka yeh trial bhi yaad rahega!” The post confirmed that the trailer will be released tomorrow, while the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
Starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead role, Prahaar is a biographical courtroom drama based on the life and career of veteran public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam. Known for handling several high-profile criminal and terrorism cases, Nikam became particularly prominent for his role in the prosecution of Ajmal Kasab in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case. The film aims to explore not only the courtroom battles but also the professional pressures and personal side of a man who spent decades dealing with some of the country’s most challenging cases.
The promo’s caption hints at the serious tone of the story, referring to dates associated with pain and the pursuit of justice through a high-stakes trial. Prahaar is expected to revisit major cases connected with Ujjwal Nikam, including the 1993 Bombay Blasts and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Rather than presenting the story only as a courtroom battle, the film is also set to explore the human and personal dimensions behind Nikam’s demanding career.
Rajkummar Rao steps into the role of Ujjwal Nikam for the film, adding another challenging character to his growing list of performances based on real-life personalities. He will be joined by Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat and Sikandar Kher in important roles. Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Maddock Films, the project brings together a cast and creative team that has generated considerable interest around the upcoming courtroom drama.
The trailer launch is also expected to be an event in itself, with the official trailer scheduled for a grand unveiling at Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The choice of venue adds another layer of significance to a film connected with the city and some of the most consequential criminal cases in its modern history. The trailer should offer the first detailed look at Rajkummar’s transformation into Nikam, along with the film’s courtroom atmosphere and dramatic scale.
With the trailer arriving tomorrow and Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam heading to theatres on October 16, the countdown has officially begun. The combination of a real-life legal figure, landmark cases and Rajkummar Rao in the lead makes the film an intriguing addition to the upcoming Hindi cinema lineup. Now, audiences only have to wait a little longer to see whether the trailer reveals the intensity and emotional weight promised by Maddock Films’ first-look promo.
