Prabhas received a special birthday surprise that has sent fans of Salaar into a frenzy. A playful video featuring the superstar and director Prashanth Neel has given a major update about the highly anticipated sequel, Salaar 2. In the clip shared on Prabhas’ birthday, the actor cheekily asks the filmmaker for a birthday gift, only for Neel to reveal that filming for the sequel is expected to begin in June 2027. The announcement has instantly sparked excitement among fans eager to see the return of Prabhas as the formidable rebel whose powerful screen presence made the first instalment a talking point.
The video captures a lighter side of the actor-director duo, with Prabhas playfully seeking a birthday present from Neel. Instead of an ordinary gift, the exchange delivers news that fans have been waiting to hear: the cameras are expected to roll for Salaar 2 in June 2027. The update has added a fresh wave of anticipation around the project, which will continue the story introduced in Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. While the makers have not revealed further production details in the clip, the filming timeline alone has given fans a reason to celebrate. For admirers of the franchise, the prospect of seeing Prabhas return to the intense world of Salaar is an exciting birthday bonus.
One of the most talked-about elements of the video is the phrase “Dinosaur is coming back,” a reference to the powerful image associated with Prabhas’ character in the Salaar universe. The dinosaur comparison draws on the film’s memorable teaser imagery and the way fans have embraced the nickname to describe the actor’s imposing screen presence. The reference has become part of the film’s online fan culture, symbolising the raw power and larger-than-life aura that Prabhas brings to the role. With the sequel now moving closer to production, the phrase has taken on fresh significance, teasing the return of the character audiences have been waiting to see again.
Released in 2023, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire starred Prabhas alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and introduced viewers to a world shaped by powerful alliances, fierce rivalries and brutal confrontations. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the film combined action-heavy storytelling with a sprawling fictional setting and a central friendship complicated by political conflict. Prabhas’ intense portrayal of Deva and Prithviraj’s performance as Varadha were central to the story, which ended with developments that left room for a continuation. The sequel is expected to build on that foundation, although the makers have yet to disclose its complete plot or reveal how the story will unfold.
The reunion of Prabhas and Prashanth Neel is another major reason behind the buzz surrounding Salaar 2. Their collaboration in the first film created a distinctive cinematic world driven by scale, action and dramatic character dynamics. Fans are now eager to discover how the filmmaker will expand that universe and what challenges await Deva and Varadha in the next chapter. The June 2027 filming update offers a clearer indication of the project’s anticipated production timeline, even as questions about the cast, storyline and eventual theatrical release remain unanswered.
For now, Prabhas’ birthday video has delivered exactly the kind of surprise that fans of the franchise were hoping for: a glimpse of the actor’s playful rapport with his director and an encouraging update about the sequel. With “Dinosaur is coming back” already fuelling online excitement, anticipation for Salaar 2 is gathering momentum. If filming begins as indicated in the clip, the next chapter of the action saga will take an important step towards becoming a reality. Until the makers share more details, fans will be watching closely for further announcements about the return of Deva.
