Love, laughter and a generous dose of nakhre are coming to the big screen! The trailer of Nakhrewaalii, presented by Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions, is finally out, offering a glimpse into a quirky romantic comedy that aims to turn familiar relationship rules upside down. Starring newcomers Ansh Duggal and Pragati Srivastava, the film promises a playful mix of romance, witty banter and social commentary, with a fresh take on the expectations men and women bring into relationships. Directed by Rahul Shanklya, the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 30, 2026.

The trailer sets the mood with chaos, humour and characters who seem to have very different ideas about love. Rather than sticking to the usual rom-com formula, Nakhrewaalii explores the double standards that can shape modern relationships. It looks at how men perceive the treatment women receive, the expectations they place on the women they date and the qualities they seek in someone they eventually want to marry. As these contrasting attitudes collide, the story opens up a space for comedy while nudging viewers to question the rules people create for romance. The result appears to be a relationship drama that does not take itself too seriously, even as it touches on familiar social attitudes.

The film’s quirky tagline, “Kabhi Kabhi Pyaar Mein Majnu Ko Bhi Laila Banna Padta Hai,” hints at the gender-role reversal at the heart of its premise. Traditionally, the legendary lovers Majnu and Laila have represented the pursuit of romance, but Nakhrewaalii flips that familiar equation to suggest that love can demand unexpected compromises. The trailer builds on the curiosity generated by the film’s recently unveiled poster, using humour to explore how far someone might go to win over the person they love. In this world, romance is not simply about grand gestures; it is also about challenging assumptions, navigating egos and learning that relationships rarely follow a rulebook.

For Ansh Duggal and Pragati Srivastava, the film marks a major opportunity to introduce themselves to Hindi cinema audiences as leading actors. Taking centre stage in a romantic comedy gives the newcomers a chance to make their mark through characters caught between attraction, expectations and the often ridiculous situations love can create. While the trailer offers a taste of their on-screen dynamic, audiences will have to wait for the full film to discover how their relationship develops and whether the characters can move beyond their preconceived ideas about love.

Behind the project is the creative collaboration between Jio Studios and Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, a banner associated with character-driven Hindi cinema. Nakhrewaalii is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, with Divy Nidhi Sharma writing the film. Rahul Shanklya takes on the directorial duties, bringing the story to the screen as a contemporary romantic entertainer. The combination of an unconventional premise, fresh lead pair and humour-led storytelling gives the film a distinct identity ahead of its theatrical arrival.

With its trailer now released, Nakhrewaalii is positioning itself as a rom-com that wants audiences to laugh at the absurdities of dating while thinking about the double standards that often go unnoticed. Whether it is the playful Majnu-Laila twist or the clash between traditional expectations and modern romance, the film appears ready to give familiar love-story conventions a cheeky shake-up. The countdown has begun: Nakhrewaalii arrives in cinemas on October 30, 2026.
