The Bollywood fraternity came together to remember veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli, with several well-known personalities attending his prayer meet in Mumbai. Among those who paid their respects were Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, Sham Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal, who arrived together to honour the late filmmaker and stand by his family during the difficult time.

The prayer meet was held on August 29, 2026, following Kuku Kohli's demise on August 25 at the age of 77. The filmmaker, best known for his directorial debut Phool Aur Kaante, passed away following a cardiac arrest. His death left the Hindi film industry mourning the loss of a filmmaker who was an important part of Bollywood's commercial cinema landscape.

Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal had already made a public appearance at Kuku Kohli's last rites on August 26, where they came to bid their final farewell. Their presence at the prayer meet a few days later showed their continued support for the family during the period of mourning.

At the prayer meet, Katrina and Vicky were seen dressed in traditional white attire, maintaining the sombre tone of the occasion. They were accompanied by Vicky's father, veteran action director Sham Kaushal, who was seen escorting the couple through the gathering. Vicky's brother Sunny Kaushal also attended the memorial, making it a family appearance as they came together to pay their respects.

Katrina's presence at the prayer meet also carried a more personal significance. The actress shares a close bond with Karishma Kohli, a member of Kuku Kohli's family, which has connected her personally to the family beyond the film industry's professional relationships. Her appearance was therefore not simply that of a celebrity attending an industry memorial, but also that of someone standing beside people close to her.

The gathering saw several other major Bollywood personalities arrive to remember the late filmmaker. Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff and veteran actress Asha Parekh were among the industry figures who paid their respects. The presence of actors and filmmakers from different generations reflected the wide network of relationships Kuku Kohli had built during his career.

The prayer meet was particularly emotional for Kuku Kohli's wife, veteran actress Aruna Irani, who was seen overwhelmed by grief. Family members, friends and colleagues gathered around her as they came together to remember the filmmaker and offer their support during an extremely difficult moment.

Kuku Kohli's cinematic legacy is closely associated with Phool Aur Kaante, the 1991 action drama that marked Ajay Devgn's debut as a leading actor. The film became a major commercial success and established Kohli as a filmmaker capable of delivering mainstream entertainers. He subsequently directed several films across genres, including action, romance and drama.

The days following his death have seen an outpouring of condolences from the Hindi film fraternity. From veteran stars and filmmakers to younger actors, several members of Bollywood have come forward to remember Kohli and acknowledge his contribution to Indian cinema.

The appearance of Sham Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal and Sunny Kaushal at the prayer meet added another deeply personal moment to the gathering. As the industry continues to mourn Kuku Kohli, the memorial served as a reminder that behind Bollywood's glitz and glamour are relationships that often extend far beyond the screen.
