After years of uncertainty and delays, Diljit Dosanjh has officially announced the release of his long-awaited film Satluj, previously known as Punjab 95. Sharing the trailer along with the film's new title, the actor confirmed that audiences will finally get to watch the complete version of the movie without any cuts. The announcement marks a major moment for a film that has remained in the spotlight due to its prolonged censorship battle.
Sharing the trailer on social media, Diljit wrote, "This is the Complete Film Without any Cuts. We could not get the Title of the Film. The Title is Now 'Sutluj'. SHAHEED JASWANT SINGH KHALRA JI Hameshan Amar Rehn Ge. SACH EK NA EK DIN BAHAR AA HEE JANDA. Honey Trehan Bhaji." His emotional message pays tribute to human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, whose life and work inspired the film, while emphasizing his belief that the truth ultimately prevails.
Directed by Honey Trehan, Satluj stars Diljit Dosanjh in the role of Jaswant Singh Khalra, the renowned human rights activist who exposed more than 25,000 alleged extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in Punjab during the 1990s. Khalra was abducted in 1995 and later murdered, and his story remains one of the most significant chapters in India's human rights history. The film also features Arjun Rampal in a key role.
Originally titled Punjab 95, the film faced multiple hurdles after the Central Board of Film Certification reportedly sought extensive cuts and changes, including a new title. The prolonged dispute delayed its release for years, making it one of the most talked-about unreleased Indian films. With the project now arriving under the title Satluj, viewers across the world will be able to watch the movie in its complete, uncut form through ZEE5.
