Bengali Filmmaker Anik Dutta Passes Away After Tragic Fall in Kolkata

Renowned Bengali filmmaker and ad filmmaker Anik Dutta passed away on Wednesday after reportedly suffering critical injuries following a fall from the terrace of a residence in Kolkata’s Gariahat area. According to initial reports, the incident took place at his wife’s residence, where Dutta allegedly fell from the terrace and sustained severe injuries. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Dhakuria but was later declared dead.
 
Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are currently trying to determine whether the fall was accidental or if any foul play was involved. Sources also revealed that Dutta’s daughter lives abroad, and his body will be sent for post-mortem examination after she arrives in Kolkata.
 
The sudden news of the filmmaker’s demise has left the Bengali film industry in shock. Known for his sharp storytelling and unique cinematic voice, Anik Dutta carved a special place in Tollywood with critically acclaimed films such as Bhooter Bhabishyat (2012), Borunbabur Bondhu (2019), and Aparajito (2022).
