The makers of Ramayana have unveiled a new poster featuring Anupam Kher as Jatayu, introducing audiences to one of the epic's most courageous and selfless characters. Shared by The World Of Ramayana on social media, the poster presents Jatayu as a symbol of bravery, sacrifice and righteousness. With the tagline “The Wings of Dharma,” the reveal highlights a crucial moment from the timeless Indian epic and adds to the excitement surrounding the ambitious cinematic adaptation.
Alongside the poster, the makers shared a powerful message: “When evil took flight, courage rose to meet it. He fought not for victory, but for what was right. Jatayu. The Wings of Dharma. Anupam Kher as Jatayu in Ramayana.” The words capture the essence of Jatayu's character and his willingness to stand against evil, even when the odds are stacked against him. The new artwork offers audiences another glimpse into the world being created for the film.
In the Ramayana, Jatayu is the noble king of vultures who attempts to stop Ravana when he abducts Sita. Despite knowing that he is facing a formidable opponent, Jatayu fights to protect her and uphold dharma. He ultimately suffers fatal injuries in the battle, but his courageous attempt becomes an enduring example of standing up against injustice. Though his role is brief in the larger epic, his sacrifice carries immense emotional and moral significance.
Casting Anupam Kher as Jatayu brings a veteran performer to a character whose importance lies in courage, conviction and selflessness. Known for his extensive body of work across Hindi cinema and international projects, Kher has portrayed a wide range of characters throughout his career. The new poster offers a glimpse of his appearance as the legendary figure, raising curiosity about how the film will bring Jatayu's dramatic encounter with Ravana to life on the big screen.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, with Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol among the prominent names associated with the project. The film also brings together celebrated composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, while its technical team includes visual effects specialists DNEG and Prime Focus. Designed as a large-scale cinematic adaptation, the film aims to bring the epic's legendary characters and sweeping narrative to audiences worldwide.
With every new character reveal, Ramayana is drawing attention to the legendary figures whose choices and sacrifices shape the epic's enduring message. Jatayu's story is especially powerful because his fight is not about personal glory or the promise of victory, but about doing what is right. The latest poster places that spirit at the centre of the film's campaign as audiences look forward to experiencing the epic on the big screen. The film is planned for a worldwide release on November 5, 2026.
