Alia Bhatt is set to add some Bollywood star power to one of the biggest global environmental events coming to Mumbai. The actor, producer and entrepreneur will be among the leading names from film, music, sport and entertainment attending The Earthshot Prize 2026 Awards Night in the city. Alia will also take on a special role at the ceremony as she presents one of the five prestigious Earthshot Prize awards, celebrating individuals and organisations working on innovative solutions to some of the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges.
The Mumbai ceremony is expected to bring together around 5,000 guests, with several internationally recognised names joining the celebrations. Alia will share the stage with Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and British actress and musician Simone Ashley, among other presenters and special guests. The evening will be hosted by filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar, while more names are expected to be announced as the event approaches.
For Alia, the occasion is about much more than a glamorous awards night. Speaking about being part of The Earthshot Prize, she said: “The Earthshot Prize is really about hope… but hope that comes with ideas, action and people who are finding new ways forward. That’s what makes it so inspiring to be a part of. There are people across the world doing incredible work to protect and repair our planet, often in ways we may never have imagined. And to have Mumbai bring all these people together feels very special. I’m proud that India gets to be part of this moment, and I’m really looking forward to celebrating the people behind these solutions and the work they’re doing for all of us.”
The 2026 Awards Night will also mark a major milestone for The Earthshot Prize as the event will be streamed globally on Prime Video for the first time. Audiences across more than 240 countries and territories will be able to watch the celebration in over 40 languages, giving the Mumbai event a truly international reach. With some of the biggest names from entertainment, sport and culture coming together, the ceremony is set to put the spotlight firmly on the people developing ideas aimed at creating a healthier and more sustainable future.
Founded by Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize was initially incubated within The Royal Foundation before becoming an independent organisation. Inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s Moonshot, the initiative is built around five environmental challenges: Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World and Fix Our Climate. The prize aims to identify and support groundbreaking solutions while helping promising ideas reach a much larger scale.
With Mumbai preparing to welcome global stars and environmental innovators under one roof, The Earthshot Prize 2026 Awards Night is shaping up to be a significant international event for the city. Alia Bhatt’s participation adds another familiar face to the celebration, while her role as an award presenter will allow her to spotlight the people behind some of the innovative solutions being developed around the world. The evening ultimately aims to turn conversations about the planet’s challenges into a celebration of action, ideas and the people working to make a difference.
