The Mijwan Fashion Show 2026 turned into a glamorous night in Mumbai as Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal took over the runway as the evening’s showstoppers. Held on September 26 at Taj Lands End, the fashion extravaganza marked the 15th anniversary of designer Manish Malhotra’s association with the Mijwan Welfare Society. The duo’s appearance also created plenty of excitement as fans eagerly await their reunion in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming period drama Love & War.
Alia Bhatt looked every bit the regal showstopper as she walked the ramp in an elegant ivory embroidered lace sari. The outfit featured intricate Chikankari detailing, delicate thread work and scalloped edges, giving the traditional silhouette a luxurious yet graceful finish. She completed the look with traditional jewellery, letting the craftsmanship of the ensemble remain firmly in the spotlight.
Vicky Kaushal brought a striking contrast to Alia’s ivory elegance, stepping onto the runway in a sophisticated midnight-blue velvet bandhgala sherwani. Intricate white zardozi embroidery added a rich handcrafted touch to his look, while the deep colour palette gave his appearance a dramatic edge. Together, Alia and Vicky made for a picture-perfect pair on the Mijwan runway, sending social media into a frenzy.
The 15th-edition Mijwan collection celebrated the beauty of traditional craftsmanship through a palette of ivory, deep green, coral and dreamy ombré shades. Every creation showcased the meticulous Chikankari work of women artisans associated with Mijwan, blending generations-old embroidery techniques with contemporary fashion. The collection once again highlighted how Indian craftsmanship can make a powerful statement on a modern couture runway.
The Mijwan Fashion Show is about much more than celebrity glamour and designer fashion. The Mijwan Welfare Society, founded by the late Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi and now managed by his daughter Shabana Azmi, works to empower rural women artisans in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. The initiative has also taken its craftsmanship onto the global stage, with Mijwan’s intricate embroidery recently receiving attention at Paris Couture Week.
