T-Series took to social media to commemorate 15 years of Kites, the 2010 romantic action thriller that brought a bold blend of Bollywood style and international flair to the big screen. In a heartfelt post, the production house wrote: “Celebrating 15 years of a love story that touched skies and souls.” The message was accompanied by hashtags honoring the cast and crew, including Hrithik Roshan, Bárbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut, and Kabir Bedi.
Directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Rakesh Roshan under Filmkraft Productions, Kites was an ambitious film for its time. It broke language barriers with its bilingual format (Hindi and English/Spanish) and attempted to bridge Indian and Western cinematic sensibilities. At its heart was a passionate, cross-cultural love story between Hrithik Roshan’s character Jai and Bárbara Mori’s Natasha, set against a backdrop of crime, betrayal, and escape.
Though it received mixed reviews upon release, Kites earned praise for its music, visuals, and Hrithik’s intense performance. The film's soundtrack, also released under the T-Series label, remains memorable, featuring hits like “Zindagi Do Pal Ki” and “Dil Kyun Yeh Mera.” It also marked one of Bollywood’s earliest big-budget attempts to go global in both casting and storytelling approach.
Fifteen years later, Kites is remembered as a bold cinematic experiment that dared to dream across borders. As fans revisit the film and its soulful music, the anniversary serves as a reminder of a time when Bollywood reached for the skies—both literally and metaphorically.
