Siddhant Chaturvedi is no stranger to layered characters, but with Do Deewane Seher Mein, the actor says he has tapped into something far more personal than ever before. Playing Shashank, a man who struggles with a speech impediment and often mixes up his “S” and “Sh,” Siddhant has opened up about how the character mirrors his own lived experiences—of language, insecurity, love, and belonging—in a way that is strikingly honest and deeply relatable.
Talking about the role, Siddhant shared a candid reflection that has resonated strongly with audiences: “Look, for me, when I read this script, I'm from Uttar Pradesh, from Ballia. And my mother still refers to Lord Shiva as ‘Shankar Bhagwan’ and Akshay Kumar as ‘Akshay Kumar.’ So this was a very personal thing for me, always. So when I read the script, well, when I myself came to Mumbai, for the first five, six, seven years, I spoke broken Hindi. We used to speak in Bhojpuri...and then when I met this girl, I liked her, and I found out she was from Chennai, and her English was very good. So I learned a little English for her, and this ‘s’ and ‘sh’ problem, I myself struggled with it a lot initially. There's a language barrier, whether you're from UP, Bihar, the Northeast, Nepal, Rajasthan, or Gujarat.”
The actor went on to explain how this seemingly small linguistic detail carries a much deeper emotional weight. “So this ‘s’ and ‘sh’ thing is a language barrier, and it has more to do with when you have something about yourself that you're conscious of, your confidence takes a hit. You don't know how to approach things, whether it's your job, a presentation, or someone you like. You feel very self-conscious when approaching them. Your confidence is always shaken.”
For Siddhant, Shashank is not just a character written on paper, but a reflection of countless young Indians who migrate to big cities carrying their accents, dialects, and insecurities with them.
“So for me, the character was quite relatable in that sense, and I enjoyed playing it a lot because it's a romantic comedy. Two imperfect people meet in a certain setting, and how they complete each other. That's the story of love, where two halves come together to make a whole.”
Presented by Zee Studios and Bhansali Productions, the trailer of Do Deewane Seher Mein—starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Mrunal Thakur—has already struck an emotional chord. After a warmly received teaser, the trailer dives deeper into a love story that feels lived-in, fragile, and achingly real. Set against the relentless hustle of a city that never pauses, the film rejects the idea of love as a flawless fairytale and instead embraces it as messy, confusing, tender, and transformative.
Directed by Ravi Udyawar and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Prerna Singh, Umesh Kumar Bansal, and Bharat Kumar Ranga, the film is slated for a theatrical release on February 20, 2026. With its emotional honesty, deeply personal performances, and grounded storytelling, Do Deewane Seher Mein is shaping up to be one of the most heartfelt love stories of the year.
